Emma Hedley and her team also design and make jewellery for The Guitarwrist using guitar strings that have been played by famous artists, sold to raise money for charity! 

A new business, the Guitarwrist, has taken concert memorabilia to a whole new level, converting artists’ used guitar strings into fabulous jewellery, including rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, while 90% of proceeds are donated to the artists chosen charities. Such as Teenage Cancer Trust, Cancer Research UK, Water Aid and the NSPCC.

They have just returned from Download Festival with guitar strings played by Slash and Duff from Guns n’ Roses.

Founder Ian say’s "of all of the guitarists we've been asked to get strings from, Slash has been the most demanded and most iconic and to finally get him and the GnR guys on board is mind blowing. And to get the strings from their headline from hallowed turf at Download is truly special"

The team were working live backstage collecting strings from the artists and making them into jewellery to sell at the festival, and online.

In 2016 Kitty and Emma Hedley began working alongside Ian Rendall, the founder of the Guitarwrist, in their Newcastle Upon Tyne based studio. Each item is handmade locally in the studio.

Since then, the business has thrived and they have worked with a multitude of artists, including Paul Weller, KT Tunstall, Stereophonics and A.S.H with more bands donating strings every day.

Emma says “ It’s amazing seeing how excited fans are when they collect their jewellery, we just love being part of such a fantastic project and feel very honored to meet so many incredible artists!”

This summer, the Guitarwrist will be hitting other festivals such as Stone Free festival this weekend, 2000 Trees and Rambling Man.
